Membership is available to anyone demonstrating informed understanding of, and commitment to, the practices and standards of Jewish Two-Testament faith as observed by the Beth El community. The Membership course is available on our Becoming A Member page, and applications for Membership are accepted year-round.

Brotherhood
The Hebrew expression for a godly man – איש תם “eesh tamm” – means literally “a total man.” A precious resource for any society in any era is its array of genuinely godly men. While our Hebrew Scriptures accord both men and woman vital parts to play in the creation of healthy homes, societies and godly communities – the Scriptures also teach that men have a unique role to play.
The Hebrew expression for a godly man – איש תם “eesh tamm” – means literally “a total man.” A precious resource for any society in any era is its array of genuinely godly men. While our Hebrew Scriptures accord both men and woman vital parts to play in the creation of healthy homes, societies and godly communities – the Scriptures also teach that men have a unique role to play.
In Beth El, our men seek to develop bonds of brotherly connection spanning our spiritual and social lives. We pray together and we have Super-Bowl parties. We study Scripture and we discuss the latest Spielberg movie. We attend Yankees games, and we attend to the feeding of the Jewish homeless in our city, in Israel, and around the world. We seek the kind of balance and brotherly bonds that allow people to see God as a tangible presence in our lives. (Psalm 133, John 13:35)
Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) modeled for us the creation in our lives of healthy ‘layered relationships.’ He had some 500 followers, 70 close disciples, 12 nearest associates, 3 dear friends and 1 best friend. All lives are unique: friendships and brotherhood spring from shared interests and experiences developed in the context of godly community. Beth El seeks to provide such context for the God-following man, and especially those of Jewish origin who are mandated by New Testament writ not to abandon their Jewish identity, Torah observance, and the customs of the Jewish people.
In our generation, as the modern Messianic Jewish awakening matures, we seek to affirm the unique worth of the individual man in the context of godly community. We do this by walking in a balance of vertical commitments (“love the Lord your God”) and horizontal commitments (“love your neighbor”). We are devoted to …
fostering spiritual and social connection with one another
interacting with the New York Jewish community as men of faith
serving the needs of Eretz Yisrael (the Land of Israel) and the Faith around the world
welcoming ‘men of calling’ who were born outside the Jewish fold, but feel to varying degrees a linkage of their own destiny with the Jewish nation, up to and including being גרים (ger-eem) – men of lifelong calling, or "converts." We are also brothers-in-faith with all men of the worldwide house of The Faith, no matter what their national heritage.
Beth El’s Brotherhood seeks in all our activities to promote connection with our Creator, continuity with the heritage of Jewish Two-Testament faith, and deep fellowship with other men of faith.

Sisterhood
Women have always played an indispensable role in the life of Israel and in the community of Two-Testament faith. Our history resounds with the commitment of Sarah and the prayers of Rebekah, the leadership of Devorah and the courage of Yael, the service of Marta and the wisdom of Priscilla – and beyond these into the present day.

The women of Beth El seek to walk with a deep consciousness of our role as necessary transmittors into the present era of godly life and Jewish continuity, balanced by the ever-present need for ‘takkanah’ (revision) in line with the needs of our generation. We come to serve our God and our People with those gifts over which the Eternal has given us charge – our very selves.

Beth El’s Sisterhood seeks in all our activities to promote knowledge of our Creator and our Messiah (John 17:3), genuine intimate fellowship with The Almighty (called, דעת יי "knowing God") ... along with deep fellowship with other women of faith in continuity with the heritage of Jewish Two-Testament faith. We also welcome cooperative fellowship with women not of Jewish calling who are fully our "sisters in faith," who live primarily in what they call, "the church." Jew and non-Jew, one in God and Messiah. :-) The way things should be.
